Imagine standing beneath the dancing glow of the Northern Lights, soaking in geothermal hot springs, and exploring Iceland’s otherworldly landscapes—waterfalls, glaciers, and volcanic fields as far as the eye can see.

Now imagine also earning CEs at the same time, as you’re guided by internationally recognized instructor Dr. Richard Sears, PsyD, PhD, MBA, ABPP, ACS through 2 days of immersive training.

It’s a rare opportunity to blend clinical mastery with personal renewal—an educational and life-enriching experience you don’t want to miss. Held in the heart of downtown Reykjavík, your training is just steps away from Iceland’s vibrant culture, cozy cafés, and breathtaking day trips into nature.

This deep dive into ACT takes place through supervised experiential practice, live demonstrations, and hands-on learning. You’ll earn 13 CE hours while experiencing Iceland’s awe-inspiring natural beauty.

Each day is designed to give you structured learning in a supportive environment, while also leaving time to explore Iceland—whether that means chasing waterfalls, soaking in hot springs, or simply wandering the charming streets of Reykjavík.

A different kind of training, in a place that changes how you see things

Iceland is a unique destination in so many ways. The scale of the land. The rawness of it. The way it pulls you out of your usual patterns and into something more immediate, more alive.

Imagine learning a clinical approach designed to do exactly that—for your clients and for you, too.

Over two immersive days, you’ll step into Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) not just as a model to understand, but as something to experience. Through live demonstrations, guided practice, and real-time application, you’ll learn how to help clients move out of burnout and back into a life that feels meaningful and workable again.

All while surrounded by landscapes that naturally invite reflection, clarity, and renewal.

When clients are burned out, stuck, or disengaged… what actually helps?

Burnout doesn’t usually respond to insight alone.

Clients may understand what’s happening for them. They may even have tools to deal with it. But something still keeps them looping—caught between overwhelm, avoidance, and exhaustion.

ACT offers a different way in. Instead of trying to eliminate distress, it helps clients change their relationship to it—so they can begin moving toward what matters, even when things feel hard.

Why this training works

Many workshops stay conceptual. You leave inspired, but unsure how to actually use the work in the room.

This intensive is built differently.

You’ll be practicing throughout—learning how to:

  • Work directly with experiential avoidance and cognitive fusion

  • Guide clients into present-moment awareness without forcing stillness or calm

  • Clarify values in a way that feels real, not abstract

  • Support committed action that is sustainable, even in the presence of burnout

By the end, ACT won’t feel like something you’ve learned. It will feel like something you can do.

Held in downtown Reykjavík, the training sits at the intersection of culture and nature.

Step outside and you’re in a city of cafés, art, and warmth. Travel just beyond it and you’re in something vast—waterfalls, volcanic fields, black sand beaches, geothermal springs. And if conditions align, you’ll experience the magic of the Northern Lights moving overhead.

During this program, your days are intentionally structured to hold both depth and space.

Mornings offer time for movement, rest, or exploration.

Midday and afternoon sessions are devoted to training, practice, and integration.

Evenings open into the city, or into the landscape just beyond it if you prefer.

You might spend a morning walking along the harbor, an afternoon deep in clinical work, and an evening eating incredible food and watching the sky dance above you.

What you’ll learn

In this 2-day experiential intensive, you’ll develop practical skills to:

  • Apply the ACT model to burnout, depression, anxiety, trauma, and chronic stress

  • Help clients relate differently to difficult thoughts, emotions, and internal experiences

  • Use values as a stabilizing direction when motivation is low

  • Introduce behavioral change that feels possible—not overwhelming

  • Adapt ACT processes across diverse populations

This is hands-on, applied learning you can bring home and apply directly to your clinical work.

A training that both meets you where you are and moves you forward

Burnout isn’t just something your clients experience. Many clinicians feel it too. The weight of holding space. The pressure to help. The sense of working hard without always seeing movement.

ACT doesn’t ask you to push harder. It offers a new orientation that creates more flexibility, more clarity, and more room in your life to actually move and grow.

That’s what you’ll be stepping into when you join CSLI and SimplyPenny in Iceland.
