Why SOMATIQUE

Many clinicians are highly skilled at supporting regulation, healing, and resilience in others—while rarely having the opportunity to experience these same principles applied to themselves.

SOMATIQUE offers a professional container where learning is not only cognitive, but embodied. By practicing somatic techniques in real time, clinicians deepen their clinical intuition, refine their presence, and strengthen their capacity to work with nervous system dysregulation in others.

The emphasis is on integration—supporting clearer clinical decision-making, more effective treatment delivery, and a sustainable way of working over time.

Why Train With Counseling Services of Long Island?

For nearly three decades, our programs have been designed for clinicians, by clinicians—combining rigorous, evidence-based training with practical tools that can be immediately integrated into clinical practice.

Our destination trainings are intentionally structured to provide:

  • High-quality continuing education with respected leaders in the field

  • Small-group learning environments that encourage discussion and engagement

  • Thoughtfully selected venues that support both focus and professional renewal

  • An experience that blends professional development with meaningful connection

Rather than simply attending another training, participants join a community of clinicians committed to learning, growth, and sustaining themselves in meaningful work.

Somatic Learning, Lived in the Body

We believe meaningful learning goes beyond theory. While you deepen your understanding of mind-body wellness in the therapeutic setting, you’ll also experience these principles firsthand through intentional program design. Mind-body wellness is integrated into the training experience itself, including:

• A serene, restorative setting that supports focus, renewal, and balance
• Half-day learning sessions designed to allow time for reflection, integration, and practical application
• Experiential elements woven throughout the program, such as mind–body practices, guided reflection, and facilitated small-group discussion

Experiences Beyond the Classroom

In your free time, enjoy:

• Optional beach time for rest and reflection

• Optional meditation, yoga, tai chi, and/or mindful body movement

• Space to pause, regulate, and digest material between sessions

This rhythm supports deeper learning, improved attunement, and greater longevity in clinical practice.

“A relaxed body creates secure attachment.”

— Dr. J. Eric Gentry

Cancellation or Postponement

Counseling Services of Long Island LCSW PC and SimplyPenny LLC  (collectively, the “CE Organizers”) reserve the right to cancel or postpone any event due to unforeseen circumstances and other events that render it illegal, impractical, or unlikely (in the sole opinion of the CE Organizers) that attendees will be unable or unwilling to attend the event. For example, transportation curtailment, governmental orders or recognized health threats as determined by the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control, or other local government authorities or health agencies (including but not limited to the health threats of COVID-19, H1N1, or similar infectious diseases) would provide a basis for cancellation. In the unlikely event of a cancellation or postponement, the CE Organizers will offer either a credit toward a future event or a refund of the registration fee. No other damages, costs, or consequential losses will be owed.

Program Modifications / Speaker Substitution / Unforeseen Circumstances

The Host/CE Sponsor reserves the right to make modifications to the training program as necessary to ensure program continuity and the delivery of the advertised continuing education (CE) credits. In the event that a scheduled presenter becomes unable to attend due to illness, travel delays, weather events, emergencies, or other circumstances beyond the control of the Host/CE Sponsor, the Host/CE Sponsor may determine the most appropriate method for continuing the training. This may include the presenter delivering the program remotely via live video conference (e.g., Zoom), securing a qualified substitute presenter, modifying the program topic, adjusting the program schedule, or making other program adjustments as necessary to maintain the training and the advertised number of CE credits.

Participants acknowledge and agree that program elements, presenters, schedules, or delivery methods may change when circumstances require. Such substitutions or modifications made in good faith to maintain the training program and CE credits shall not constitute grounds for cancellation, dispute, or refund.

For programs held in travel destinations, participants further acknowledge that travel conditions, weather events, transportation disruptions, or other circumstances may require schedule adjustments or program modifications. The Host/CE Sponsor will make efforts to maintain the training program and CE offerings but cannot guarantee that all originally scheduled elements will occur exactly as planned.

Training FAQS

  • No. SOMATIQUE is a professional education program designed for licensed clinicians and helping professionals. While the training includes experiential and embodied learning components, these are presented strictly within an educational and clinical framework. The focus is on developing evidence-based skills, deepening clinical understanding, and enhancing professional effectiveness—not on providing therapy or personal treatment to participants.

  • Registration covers the live, in-person professional training, instructional materials, and 12 Continuing Education (CE) credits. Tuition does not include airfare, lodging, meals, transportation, or other travel-related expenses unless otherwise specified. Participants are responsible for making their own travel and accommodation arrangements.

  • The structure and pacing of SOMATIQUE reflect current neuroscience on nervous-system regulation and learning. By engaging somatic and mind–body techniques experientially, clinicians gain a deeper, embodied understanding of how these approaches support regulation, resilience, and presence—both in clinical work and in professional life. This integration enhances clinical effectiveness and supports long-term sustainability without framing the experience as therapy or self-care programming.

Aruba-Specific & Travel FAQS

  • To enter Aruba, you’ll need a few key things in place before you go:

    • A valid passport (must be valid for your stay)

    • A completed Aruba ED Card (required for all travelers)

    • A return or onward ticket

    • Proof of sufficient funds for your stay

Canadian and U.S. travelers do not need a visa for short tourist visits.

Travel insurance is required by SimplyPenny, to protect you in case of delays, cancellations, or unexpected changes.

  • The Aruba ED (Embarkation/Disembarkation) Card is a mandatory online entry form for all visitors.

It collects your travel details, health declarations, and personal information in advance to streamline arrival.

  • You must complete the ED Card within 7 days before your departure to Aruba.

    • It’s completed online (no paper form on arrival)

    • Each traveler needs their own form (including children)

    • You’ll receive a confirmation that you’ll need for check-in

There is currently a $20 sustainability fee built into the process for most travelers.

  • No. Aruba no longer requires COVID-19 testing or proof of vaccination for entry.

  • Getting around is simple and flexible, depending on how you like to travel:

    • Car rental – Best for exploring the island freely, especially beaches and national parks

    • Taxi – Easy to find and widely available (no meters; fixed rates)

    • Public bus – Affordable and reliable for major routes

Most areas are well-connected, and distances are relatively short, making it easy to explore.

  • Not necessarily. If you’re staying near Palm Beach or Eagle Beach, you can get by with taxis and buses.

If you want to explore more remote areas (like Arikok National Park or hidden beaches), renting a car gives you much more flexibility.

  • Yes. Aruba is small, safe, and easy to get around. Roads are well-maintained, and signage is clear, making it a straightforward destination whether you’re driving or using public transport.

  • No. Aruba asks visitors to leave natural elements like shells and coral behind to help protect the island’s ecosystems.

  • There are no mandatory vaccines for entry for most travelers, but routine vaccinations are recommended depending on your travel history and health guidance.

"This was one of the most rejuvenating and educational experiences I’ve ever had. The care, intention, and community made all the difference. I walked away feeling inspired both personally and professionally."
